Nelson University

At Nelson, we want to ensure children are enthused and motivated with a real thirst for learning new knowledge and skills. Our over-arching vision is ‘Nurturing One Another, Discovering Together, Inspiring All’, and we believe that Nelson University is one opportunity to achieve this.  Linking in our behaviour policy, children have the opportunity to work with a teacher in their phase to develop different skills in greater depth.  Children are able to learn: photography, computing, science, arts and crafts, drama, first aid skills, cake decorating and healthy eating, French (year 1 -3), physical activities (yoga, basketball, netball, rounders and athletics) calligraphy and singing to name a few!

Every Friday children are able to carry out a course of their choice for a half term.

“We love Nelson University! We look forward to it every Friday as it is so fun and we learn something!”

“I really enjoy that I get to learn and work with other children across the school.”

“I enjoy getting to know other adults.”

Photography Nelson University are currently completing a competition with the theme ‘Our World is Beautiful’.

Here are some of the entries:

If you take a wander around the school, you’ll see there are lots of photographs of the children learning and immersed in the daily life of our school.  Did you know, some of these were taken by the children themselves in photography as part of Nelson University?
