Competitions

Design A Background for the School Computers/Tablets

Launched: Tuesday 9th February 2017

Deadline: Monday 27th February 2017

The School Computing Team would like you to design a background for the school computers or tablets. The design needs to be eye-catching, colourful and have a clear e-safety message. You could include a catchy e-safety slogan or tips for using the internet safely.

Internet Safety Day (Tuesday 9th February 2016)

Nelson celebrated Internet Safety Week through a range of different activities.

On Tuesday (9th February), which was Internet Safety Day, the School Computing Improvement Team visited classes to share advice and tips. Year 1 and 2 learnt all about making sure they think about messages or photos that they post online through a story. Year 3, 4, 5 and 6 discussed how important it is to not spend too much time playing games on the computer and that although technology is fantastic for many things, we still need to spend time with our friends and family. The children also launched a competition to design the School Computing Improvement Team’s logo. This will be displayed with all articles in the newsletter, on their display board and the logo will also be made into badges for the team to wear proudly around the school. The closing date for the competition is Friday 4th March. Each class also had their own internet safety session run by class teachers, where many had to create a Magna Carta for the digital age.

On Thursday (11th February) and Friday (12th February), we had an internet safety specialist, called Mr Cowley, visit us. He ran assemblies across the school and sessions with every class. He also ran a parent session after school.
