We aim to teach Design and Technology through our Nelson Learning Challenge Curriculum.

Enrichment Opportunities

Throughout the year Mrs Church, Design & Technology Leader has been working with the pupils on preparing and cooking healthy global cuisine.

Trips & Visits

The Pupil Food improvement Team visited York House in October 2015 for a Food Education day organised by a ISS Education (our school meal provider).

The Food Pupil Improvement Team planned, organised and led assemblies across the school following their Food Education day visit to inform the rest of the school about what they had learnt.

Web-based Resources

Web-based resources can bring the outside world into the classroom. For example, using photos, animation and video clips helps pupils to visualise concepts, particularly dynamic processes such as manufacturing.  While there are an extensive number of websites that can support design and technology, it is often better to use a small number of well-chosen sites that support specific learning objectives.
